Shimla, 06 August: Search is on for the missing people in the horrific accident in Samej of Rampur area of ​​the district. Search for the missing people in the flood after cloudburst continued for the sixth day on Wednesday. Rescue teams have recovered the body of a man in Dogri village near Sunni Dam. The body has been identified. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Siddharth son of Vijay Kumar resident of Nandrol Tehsil and District Kangra. Siddharth’s body has been identified by his brother. Siddharth was an employee of Greenko Hydro Project in Samej. The flood had wiped out the entire hydro project. Seven workers of the project went missing after the accident.
SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that rescue teams have recovered six bodies so far. Of these, three have been identified by their family members. The bodies of two women and one man have been identified. All three were victims of the disaster in Samej. The other three unidentified bodies could not be identified because they were mutilated. DNA sampling is being done for this.
SP Sanjeev Gandhi said that the search operation will continue on Wednesday as well. He said that the bodies washed away in the accident are likely to be in the Sunni Dam area. In view of this, the rescue team will increase the search operation in the dam area. The rescue team has launched a large-scale search operation in the accident site Samej. Now the focus of the rescue team will be on the search for the missing people in the Sunni Dam area. Currently, 301 search operation teams in Samej and 61 in Sunni are searching for the missing people.
NDRF, Police, Army, CISF and Home Guard personnel are engaged in the search operation. The missing people are being searched with modern equipment. He said that the unidentified bodies recovered will be identified by DNA matching.
Bodies of missing people found in Sunni Dam area-
Rescue teams are finding most of the bodies from Sunni Dam. So far four bodies have been recovered from here. Today, the body of a hydro project employee has been found here. On Monday, two bodies were recovered from Dogri near Sunni Dam. Earlier on Sunday, the body of a woman was found from the dam. On the same day, two unidentified bodies were also found on the banks of Satluj river in Rampur. Search operation is going on in the 85 km area from Rampur to Sunni. About 300 people are included in the relief and rescue team.
It is worth noting that the flood caused by cloudburst on the midnight of 31st July has caused heavy destruction in Samej village. Many houses, schools and health centers were also washed away in the accident. 36 people went missing after the accident. Rescue teams have been searching for the missing people for the last five days. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a relief amount of Rs 50,000 to the affected family and Rs 5,000 for a house on rent.
