To make the state’s extremely difficult geographical conditions bearable and to develop roads for tourism, Himachal Pradesh will lay a network of roads using Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) technology.

This great technology that makes roads life-enhancing, which started in Gujarat, will now help in adopting the simple environment of the hill state and lay a network of roads. The best part is that the road built using (FDR) technology is durable and also reduces cost.According to the current approval, a network of 113 roads will be laid in the state using Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) technology, which will be started in Ghumarwin Assembly Constituency of Bilaspur district. Road construction using FDR technology has been started on the Cantt-Gahar Link Road in Ghumarwin Assembly Constituency. A seven-kilometer stretch of the Cantt-Gahar Link Road will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore.

The power and effectiveness of the FDR technology in road construction in providing smooth passage in hilly areas is evident and the road built with expert-based technology is going to give a boost to tourism.

Roads built with FDR technology will be less affected by moisture, which will prevent slipping, accidents, landslides and debris on the road. The best thing is that the road of this strong technology will be built from raw materials itself, which will provide relief to the PWD department of the state. The environmental road will not only boost the economy of the state but will also improve the infrastructure.

Along with the Cantt-Gahar link road, the Targhel-Tadaun-Ladrour link road will also be constructed using FDR technology. Construction of link roads using FDR technology will reduce the increasing sand excavation, which will prevent a serious situation like natural disaster in the state.

According to Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, the road constructed using FDR technology will strengthen both the financial and geographical position of the state.

According to Manish Sehgal, Executive Engineer, PWD Department, Ghumarwin, before laying the network of the road constructed using FDR technology, the standard procedure is being checked in a part of Cantt-Gahar Link Road. 80% of the road cost will be reduced in the road constructed using FDR technology.
