Indian women’s Kabaddi team captain Ritu Negi, who lives in a very small village in a very remote area of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, has been announced to be honoured with the Arjuna Award, India’s second highest sports award.

On Tuesday itself, Indian women’s Kabaddi team captain Ritu Negi had come to her native village (parental house) in Shillai. As soon as Ritu Negi received the news of Arjuna Award being given by the Sports Ministry of Government of India to all the family members in Shillai Gram Panchayat. Ritu Negi, daughter of Ritu Negi’s father Bhawan Singh Negi and her mother Mrs. Purnima Negi, completed her entire primary education in Shirog Primary School of Shillai Gram Panchayat.

Ritu Negi was selected for Bilaspur hostel only after passing the ninth class from Government Senior Secondary School, Shillai. In Bilaspur hostel, Ritu Negi was given complete education till graduation along with participation in Kabaddi competitions. In the year 2014, Ritu Negi was also selected for Indian Railways. In the year 2022, Ritu Negi was married to Kabaddi star Rohit Gulia, resident of Panipat, Haryana.
