Himachal Pradesh’s Renuka Thakur has been selected to represent India in the upcoming Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup. Renuka, who hails from Rohru in Shimla district, has cemented her place in the national team due to her consistent performance in recent matches. She has been a key player for Team India for the last few years.

Tanuja Kanwar, who also hails from Shimla district, has been selected as one of the traveling reserves for the tournament. Tanuja, who lives in Theog, will be on standby to replace any player from the main team in case of injury. Tanuja made her international T20 debut in the Asia Cup in July last year, where she got the debut cap from Renuka Thakur.
The Indian team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, while Smriti Mandhana will be the vice-captain. Renuka Singh will play a key role in the fast bowling unit, supported by Pooja Vastrakar. The spin department will consist of Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav and Shreyanka Patil.

India are in Group A along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The tournament, originally planned for Bangladesh, was moved to the UAE due to political unrest in Bangladesh. The World Cup will begin in Sharjah on October 3, with the final in Dubai on October 20. India will play their first match against New Zealand in Dubai on October 4, followed by a match against Pakistan on October 6.
