Shimla, July 17: In a shocking incident of ragging at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district, five students of class 12 have been suspended for 15 days after they attacked their juniors of class 10. Five junior students were injured in the entire incident, raising serious questions about the safety of students inside Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog.

The entire incident took place last night at around 11 pm when the senior students barged into the hostel room of their juniors and demanded them to wash their clothes. When the class 10 students refused, the senior students assaulted them, causing injuries to the victim’s ears, eyes and mouth.

Sanjita Shaunik, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog, reacted to the entire incident of ragging and reached the hostel within five minutes to calm the situation. “I intervened to stop the fight and ensure the safety of our students. We will take strict action against those involved in this incident and the warden will also have to face the consequences.”

SDM Theog confirmed that upon receiving information about the incident, he visited Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog to conduct a thorough investigation. “The five guilty students have been suspended for 15 days and we have directed the school management to take further appropriate action,” Sharma said.

The entire matter came to light when one of the junior students informed his father using a telephone present in the school premises. After hearing about the situation, Singh contacted Principal Shaunik, who took steps to ensure the safety of the students.

In response to the family’s complaint, the Theog administration visited Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog to gather more information. Principal Shaunik stressed the need for preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future. “We are working with the local administration and parents to develop strategies that ensure the well-being of all students in our school,” She said.

This incident highlights the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to combat ragging and promote a safe environment for students at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog.
