Earlier, Albanese had said that the countries involved in the Quad – India, Japan and Australia can come for the meeting even without the presence of America. He had said that his government is talking to the Prime Minister of Japan and India after Biden canceled the visit.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Wednesday that the Quad meeting to be held next week is currently being postponed. It is being told that this decision has been taken from Australia due to the inability of US President Joe Biden to attend the meeting. Biden is currently engaged in solving the issue of economic crisis arising out of debt in America. In such a situation, he postponed his foreign tour next week.
Earlier, Albanese had said that the countries involved in the Quad – India, Japan and Australia can come for the meeting even without the presence of America. He had said that his government is talking to the Prime Minister of Japan and India after Biden canceled the visit. However, later President Albanese apologized and said that he would have to extend the dates of this visit of the Quad partners. He said that the Prime Ministers of India and Japan have agreed to reschedule the meeting and hold it at the earliest.
However, the Australian Prime Minister did say that his bilateral meeting with PM Modi in Australia next week could still happen. A decision regarding this can also be taken soon from the Indian side.
What is the program of PM Modi’s foreign tour?
Prime Minister Modi will visit Hiroshima, Japan from May 19 to 21 for the G-7 summit chaired by Japan. He is visiting Japan at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. During the summit, the Prime Minister will address the G-7 sessions. It will also include US President Biden along with some other leaders. After this PM Modi has plans to go to Papua New Guinea. Earlier on this tour too, there was a possibility of Biden staying with PM Modi. But now after the cancellation of Biden’s visit, Modi can visit Papua New Guinea alone. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Papua New Guinea.
