Shimla, 03 September:Â Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh has set a firm deadline for completion of construction of 23 roads and 22 bridges under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). During a review meeting held in the Assembly on Monday, Singh directed officials to ensure that these crucial infrastructure projects are completed by 2025.
These projects are part of the third phase of PMGSY, the minister said. He confirmed that tenders for four roads have already been awarded, while contracts for the remaining 19 roads will be awarded soon. Stressing the need for timely and efficient work, Singh emphasized the importance of completing all road construction by June 2025.
Apart from road projects, Singh highlighted the urgent need to push forward bridge construction under the same scheme. He directed that tenders for 22 bridges be finalized expeditiously, with a deadline of December 2025 for their completion. These efforts are aimed at strengthening connectivity and improving infrastructure across the state.
Singh also gave an update on the previous phases of PMGSY, saying that the first and second phases have almost been completed. This progress underlines the government’s commitment to enhance rural infrastructure.
The meeting also included a review of ongoing projects by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Singh, recognising the importance of these projects for the state, gave specific directions to officials to expedite these projects. He called for a dedicated meeting to address any challenges and expedite the completion of NHAI projects.
Under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund Scheme, Singh said 191 projects worth ₹2,097 crore have been approved. Of these, 143 projects have been completed, with ₹861 crore spent. Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to expedite the completion of all sanctioned projects, ensuring better infrastructure and connectivity for the residents of Himachal Pradesh.
