PM Modi, PM Hasina to virtually inaugurate first Bangladesh-India cross-border oil pipeline on March 18-Diarytimes
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will jointly inaugurate the first cross border oil pipeline to transport diesel between the two countries on March 18. Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen gave this information.
The report quoted Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation officials as saying that Delhi will use the 130-km India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (IBFP) to export diesel to Dhaka. It has been prepared at a cost of about Rs 3.46 billion.
The Foreign Minister told that the most wonderful thing for us is that India will send us diesel. The pipeline is complete. According to bdnews news portal, Bangladesh signed an agreement in 2017 to import diesel from India through the pipeline, which stretches from Siliguri in West Bengal to Meghna Petroleum Depot at Parbatipur in Dinajpur. The report said that the initial deadline of June 2020 was the bilateral project launched in March 2020, but the deadline was extended due to the Corona epidemic. The pipeline stretches for 125 km in the territory of Bangladesh and 5 km in India
