The Paragliding World Cup was inaugurated in Bir Billing of Kangra district by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman and Tourism Development Board Vice President (Cabinet Rank) RS Bali. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Animal Husbandry, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Kishori Lal was specially present on the occasion.

RS Bali inaugurating the Paragliding World Cup

The eight-day competition was inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman and Tourism Development Board Vice President (Cabinet Rank) RS and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Animal Husbandry, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Kishori Lal by flagging off from Billing.

On this occasion, RS Bali said that Bir Billing is the favorite place of paragliders from all over the world because it is the best, unique and longest site in the world. He said that it is a matter of pride for the country and the state that a world class paragliding competition is being organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and its organization will increase the prestige of Himachal in the world. He said that the positive thinking of the Chief Minister has contributed siignificantly in giving a distinct identity to the state and taking Himachal forward.

He said that there are immense possibilities of adventure sports activities in the state and the state government is encouraging the organizers by providing all possible support in their organization. He said that after 2015, organizing a world class paragliding competition in Bir Billing will not only benefit the people here economically but will also give the local pilots an opportunity to see the best paragliding pilots of the world and learn from them.

He said that since Bir-Billing valley is the land of gods and goddesses, all the participants here have the special blessings of the gods. People from all over the world get to see the natural beauty and the priceless culture of the state. He said that the government is making special efforts to develop such places and create facilities. Apart from this, untouched tourist places are also being identified in the state.

He said that Rs 60 lakh has been released for the Bir landing site and Rs 7 lakh for other facilities by the Tourism Department. Apart from this, he announced to give Rs 35 lakh for the successful organization of the competition. He also announced to install a lift in the Kheer Ganga Ghat parking.

Earlier, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Kishori Lal welcomed R.S. Bali and said that there are immense possibilities of tourism in Baijnath Assembly constituency. He said that due to the special efforts of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, organizing the Paragliding World Cup in Bir Billing Valley of Baijnath has become possible.

Hawan for the safety of the participants and success of the competition…. Shanti Hawan was organized for the success, safety and peaceful organization of the paragliding competition. Foreign paragliding participants participated in the Hawan organized for the safety of all as per Indian culture and tradition.

94 human birds from 26 countries will show their strength… 94 pilots from 26 countries are participating in the Paragliding World Cup competition. The competition also includes 32 Indian participants and 7 female participants. Special arrangements have been made for the safety of the participants in the eight-day long competition. Two helicopters, 7 health teams including ambulances, 6 rescue and retrieval teams have been deployed. These are people trained from Atal Bihari Mountaineering Institute Manali.

Foreign guests will get acquainted with the culture of Himachal through Bir Carnival….. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced the carnival to entertain the participants during the paragliding competition and to make the foreign guests familiar with the rich Indian and Dev Bhoomi Himachal culture. The carnival is being organized at the landing site Bir from 6 to 8 November. Cultural programs will be organized every evening in it.

On this occasion, BPA President Anurag Sharma, former MLA Surinder Kaku, State SC Cell Vice President Ravinder Bittu, Block Congress President Virender Jamwal, Organizing Director Suresh Thakur, General Secretary Chamel Singh, Ankit Sood, Aero Club of India Observer Arvind Oak, PWCA President Goran Dimishkovsky, Scorer Daniel Dimov, Security and Recovery Manager Ivan Lukanov, Anna Berger, SDM Baijnath DC Thakur, DSP Anil Sharma, CMO Dr. Rajesh Guleria, officials of various departments, dignitaries of the area and participants from 26 countries were present.
