Sundernagar, July 18: 74-year-old Abhimanyu Singh, son of former MLA Nakkabinu Ram, died a heartbreaking death after being hit by a truck near the control gate under BSL police station in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. On Thursday morning, retired soldier from the Indian Army Abhimanyu Singh had gone out for a walk as usual. As soon as he reached the road towards Hadeti near the control gate, a truck coming from behind hit him. In this accident, retired soldier Abhimanyu Singh died on the spot.

After the entire incident, the truck driver fled from the spot. As soon as the information was received, the team of BSL police station reached the spot, took the body in possession and sent it to Civil Hospital Sundernagar for post-mortem. To know the real reason of the accident, the team of BSL police station is examining the CCTV camera footage.

The deceased Indian Army retired soldier Abhimanyu Singh’s father Nakkabinu Ram was an MLA from Sundernagar assembly constituency in the 60s, and his brother Rajendra has been a councilor from Changar ward. One of Abhimanyu Singh’s sons died a few years ago and the other is working in the education department. This incident has brought a mountain of sorrow on the family.

DSP Sundernagar Bharat Bhushan has confirmed that the BSL police have registered a case and investigation is going on. The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem.
