Outstanding teachers will be honored with 'Himachal Pradesh State School Education Award'
Shimla, July 15: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said here today that with the aim of honoring the valuable services rendered by teachers, the Himachal Pradesh Government is starting a new scheme ‘Himachal Pradesh State School Education Award’ for teachers and Head of School. He said that under the scheme, 24 teachers from general category and tribal & remote areas will be honored under two different categories.
The Chief Minister said that the objective of this scheme is to encourage teachers who promote learning outcomes, creativity and innovative contribution in the field of education instead of subject basis in the selection process. The objective of this scheme is to increase the interest of youth in the teaching field, inspire qualitative education and give teachers the highest position in the society. This will encourage the best practices of education in schools.

He said that in addition to 24 state awards, the state government will also award six special awards for successful implementation of flagship schemes of the state government and for promoting innovation. Under the special awards, teachers working in District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET), State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) will also be eligible.
Teachers for special awards will be selected on the approval of the state level committee constituted under the Himachal Pradesh State School Education Award Scheme. Under the scheme, the awarded teachers will be awarded with memento, medal, Himachali cap, shawl, citation and certificate.
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that teachers working till 31st March of the current year will be eligible under this scheme. Teachers can apply to the Deputy Directors through the Controllers in offline mode from 16th July to 30th July as per the schedule set by the department. After receiving the application, the application will be scrutinized by the district level committee. It will be mandatory to make a video recording of the entire process through a special evaluation team constituted by the department. Out of the applications received by the district level committee, two applications will be sent to the state level committee. Each applicant will have to make a presentation before the state level committee.
The CM said that the Himachal Pradesh government is committed to providing quality education to the students near their homes. Educational tours are being organized to other countries to enhance the knowledge of the teachers of the state, so that the teachers can provide quality education to the students in the state.
