New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday asked representatives of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to consider ways to make ethanol and flex fuel more acceptable to the public.
Mr Gadkari chaired a review meeting with representatives of SIAM at Transport Bhawan to discuss the automobile industry’s preparedness for ethanol and flex fuel, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said in a post on X.
The interaction discussed how the industry is preparing to launch ethanol-powered vehicles in the coming months.
“He asked SIAM members to consider ways to make them more acceptable to the public, citing Brazil’s successful integration of flex fuels and biofuels in its transport,” MoRTH said.
Mr Gadkari also had an in-depth discussion on how a shift from fossil fuels to biofuels will help India become self-reliant, reduce pollution and annual imports of fossil fuels, and help consumers get fuel at a lower cost – while also benefiting our farmers.
