New twist in Sanjauli Masjid dispute, Muslim community demands to seal and remove illegal construction
Shimla, September 12: A new twist has come in the famous Sanjauli Masjid case of the capital Shimla. The matter has heated up due to the massive protest by the Hindu community in Sanjauli a day earlier. The Muslim side has taken the initiative to end this dispute.
Local people of the Muslim community along with the president of the Sanjauli Masjid Committee reached the office of the Municipal Corporation Shimla on Thursday and handed over a memorandum to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner demanding to take possession of the illegal construction done in the mosque or seal it. The big thing is that the mosque committee also requested the commissioner to give them permission to remove the illegal construction done in the mosque themselves.
The Muslim community says that this initiative has been taken by them not under anyone’s pressure but to maintain peace and harmony. He said that the Municipal Corporation Commissioner has been requested to seal the illegal construction done in this mosque. The Imam of the mosque, Shahzad, said that he is ready to remove the illegal construction in the mosque himself. Everyone lives here in harmony and this matter should not be linked to politics.
At the same time, Abdul Latif, the head of Sanjauli Mosque Committee, says that we have submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and requested to seal the illegal construction in this mosque and also that we want to remove the illegal construction ourselves. The Commissioner assured to look into it.
On the other hand, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupender Atri has said that people of the Muslim community met him here today and submitted a memorandum, and also they want to remove the illegal construction themselves. He said that the matter related to the mosque is pending in the court. A decision will be given soon on his proposal.
