Shimla, 10th September: Heavy rains are continuing in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, Solan and other areas since Tuesday morning. Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain at some places in the state today. There is a possibility of rain in many parts on 11th and 12th September, while heavy rain warning has been issued in some districts on 13th and 14th September.
During the last 24 hours, 90.8 mm rain was recorded in Naina Devi, 80.0 mm in Malraon, 76.2 mm in Barthin, 38.2 mm in Una, 32.0 mm in Chaupal, 26.0 mm in Olinda, 26.4 mm in BBMB, 26.4 mm in Brahmani, 22.0 mm in Kasauli and 13.0 mm in Jubbarhatti.
Director of Meteorological Center Shimla Kuldeep Srivastava said that heavy rains may occur at some places in Sirmaur and Bilaspur. Apart from this, light rain may occur in other districts today. He said that normal rain has occurred in August and September, whereas since June, there has been 21 percent less rain. There is a possibility of increase in monsoon rain from 13 September, due to which heavy rain may occur in the lower intermediate districts.
At the same time, due to rain, landslides are happening at many places in the state, due to which 75 roads, two bridges and one national highway are closed. Apart from this, 43 electricity transformers have also been affected.
