Nahan, August 15: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh hoisted the flag at the district level function at Nahan Chaugan, the headquarters of Sirmaur district, on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. He took the salute of the attractive march past presented by the contingents of Police, Home Guard, NCC and NSS. The parade was led by Sub Inspector Achhar Singh. Earlier, he paid floral tribute to the statue of Dr. Y.S. Parmar. He also paid tribute to the martyrs at Shaheed Chowk.

Addressing the public on this occasion, Anirudh Singh congratulated the people of the district on Independence Day and said that 78 years ago, Indians saw the morning for which our freedom fighters struggled and made the supreme sacrifice. He said that the morning of 15th August reminds us of the supreme sacrifice of our freedom fighters which makes every Indian proud. He said that the freedom fighters and militants of Himachal Pradesh participated enthusiastically in the freedom movement and today we all salute those great personalities.

He termed the increasing trend of drug addiction among the youth as worrisome and said that the state government is trying to bring the youth out of the quagmire of drug addiction and connect their energy with positive activities. He said that recently the state government has decided to establish a state level Model ​​​​De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center in Kotla-Barog under Pachhad sub-division of Sirmaur district. This center will have a facility of 100 beds for men and women struggling with drug addiction.

Anirudh Singh said that out of the total 3 thousand 615 panchayats of the state, 3 thousand 578 gram panchayats are connected with motorable or jeepable roads. 15 thousand 580 villages have been connected with road facilities. The remaining panchayats are also being connected by roads. He said that for the first time in the state, more than one lakh 87 thousand 500 revenue cases were settled by organizing special intkal courts at tehsil and sub-tehsil level. He said that the state government has created more than 31 thousand employment opportunities in the 19-month tenure.

The Panchayati Raj Minister said that the state government has increased the minimum support price on cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 45 per liter and buffalo milk from Rs 47 to Rs 55 per liter. Himachal is the only state in the country to provide minimum support price on milk purchase. Him Unnati Yojana has also been implemented to promote natural farming. Under this, a target has been set to establish 2600 agricultural groups to include about 50 thousand farmers.

He said that in Sirmaur district, Rs 91 crore 48 lakh were spent on social security pension to 57 thousand 722 eligible elderly, widow and disabled persons and during the tenure of the present government, 6251 eligible persons above 60 years of age without any income limit are being benefited in the district. He said that the construction work has been completed by spending an amount of about Rs 4 crore on the construction of 12 Panchayat Ghar in the Gram Panchayats of various development blocks of Sirmaur district.

After the address of the Rural Development Minister, colorful cultural presentation was given by local schools and other institutions. About 400 participants participated in the district level Independence Day program. The Panchayati Raj Minister also honored about 50 government officers and employees and other people for their important contribution by doing excellent work in Sirmaur district. After this, he also distributed laptops to the newly formed 17 Panchayats in Sirmaur district. Independence Day celebrations were also celebrated in all the sub-divisional headquarters, various educational and Panchayati Raj institutions of the district.

MP Suresh Kashyap, MLA Nahan Ajay Solanki, Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta, Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena, District President Congress Party Anand Parmar, State Congress Committee spokesperson Rupendra Thakur, councillors, representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions, officers of various departments and a large number of local people became part of the function.
