Mandi’s markets are decorated for Raksha Bandhan, craze for handmade rakhis is increasing

Mandi, August 18: Markets have been decorated in Mandi for the festival of Raksha Bandhan, a symbol of brother-sister love. Colourful rakhis in the markets are automatically attracting people. This time, there is a good demand for handmade rakhis in Mandi city. Due to which rural and urban women are getting orders for rakhis at their doorsteps and women are becoming self-reliant.
Talking about Mandi city, five stalls have been set up by the Gramin Mission on Seri Manch, along with NULM stalls, stalls of fancy and machine made rakhis have also been set up. At most of the rakhi stalls, women are making rakhis with their own hands using silk and other threads along with natural decorative items and are also selling them. Along with this, rakhis made from cow dung at some stalls are also being liked by the people.
A woman from Balh, who set up a Rakhi stall set up by the department, said that she has been selling Rakhis and other handmade local products in Mandi city for the past several years, which has helped her. For this, she has also thanked the government and administration.
According to another woman, this time she has made the Rakhis completely eco-friendly, which does not cause any kind of pollution. The women said that they have prepared about 25 to 30 thousand Rakhis on order with their own hands, which are in great demand in the markets and their income has also increased.
