Seven-day grand Dev Mahakumbh in Chhoti Kashi
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Mandi, March 09: The seven-day historical Dev Mahakumbh of International Shivratri Festival has started from Saturday in Chhoti Kashi Mandi. On the occasion of the inauguration of International Shivratri Mahotsav, traditional Jaleb was taken out. In the traditional Jaleb, prominent Gods and Goddesses from the entire Mandi district participated along with the devotees.
The seven-day International Shivratri Mahotsav has been formally inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. At around 2 o’clock, CM Sukhu reached the courtyard of the DC office where CM Sukhu was made to wear a traditional turban.
After this, CM Sukhu reached Raj Madhav Rai Temple and after performing the rituals there, the first Jaleb of the International Shivratri Festival started. Devlu, who came with the gods and goddesses, danced vigorously with the devotees to the tunes of traditional musical instruments. Thousands of people reached from Raj Madhav Rai Temple to Paddal Maidan in the same manner, dancing, dancing and singing. Raj Madhav Rai palanquin also participated in this procession, followed by the convoy of CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other dignitaries.

After about one and a half hour, the first procession of International Shivratri Mahotsav reached Paddal Maidan and CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu formally inaugurated the International Shivratri Mahotsav by hoisting the flag of International Shivratri Mahotsav at Paddal Maidan. CM Sukhu congratulated everyone on the International Shivratri Festival and announced a 10-10 percent increase in the nazrana given to deities and the honorarium given to Bajantris.

On the occasion of formal inauguration of the International Shivratri Mahotsav, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu along with his wife, CPS Sunder Singh Thakur, MLA Anil Sharma, Chandrashekhar, former minister Kaul Singh Thakur, Mandi District Magistrate Mandi Apoorva Devgan, SP Mandi Sakshi Verma and other Congress leaders and Officers were also present.
A grand meeting of 195 gods and goddesses will be seen for seven days –
This time 195 gods and goddesses are participating in the International Shivratri Festival. This is such a Dev Mahakumbh where you get a chance to see so many Gods and Goddesses together and seek their blessings. The chariots of most of the gods and goddesses sit in the paddal grounds, whereas the seating positions of some major gods and goddesses are already fixed. Dev Kamrunag is seated in Tarna Mata Temple. Devotees are going there to have darshan and taking blessings.
This time, two major deities belonging to Kullu district, Anant Balu Nag and Deity Khuddi Jahal have also come to participate in the International Shivratri Festival after 144 years.
