Mandi, August 15: On the 78th Independence Day, a district level function was organized at the historic Seri Manch in Mandi city. Town and Country Planning & Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani attended the function as the chief guest.

He visited the Shaheed Smarak and paid floral tribute to the martyrs and then garlanded the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi installed at Gandhi Chowk. After this, he hoisted the national flag and inspected the parade and took the salute. Himachal Police, Mahila Police, Police Band, Home Guard, NCC, Scout & Guide and other contingents participated in the parade. In his address, Minister Rajesh Dharmani remembered those who sacrificed for the freedom of the country and paid tribute to them.

He said that Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh has made an important contribution from the independence of the country to protecting the borders. The warriors here have happily sacrificed their lives for the security of the country, which can never be forgotten. The state is also called Veer Bhoomi and the state government is working towards giving a new identity to this Veer Bhoomi. In the coming 10 years, Himachal Pradesh will be made the richest state of the country.

Rajesh Dharmani said that through the responsibility of the Town and Village Planning Department given to him, efforts are being made to develop the urban and rural areas of the state in a planned manner. Efforts are being made to strengthen the development structure in such a way that we can fight every challenge that comes in the future and there is minimum loss. The planning areas of Mandi district have been reorganized again and some new guidelines have been issued.

On this occasion, colorful cultural programs inspired by patriotism were also presented and those who did excellent work were also honored by giving awards. MLA Mandi Sadar Anil Sharma, former minister Kaul Singh Thakur, Mayor Municipal Corporation Mandi Virender Bhatt, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorv Devgan and SP Mandi Sakshi Verma along with other officers and leaders were also present at the function.
