Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, padhar (Mandi), March 20: A moving car caught fire near Kotropi in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday afternoon. Within a few minutes the car was burnt to ashes. It was fortunate that all the passengers in the car got out safely in time.

This accident happened near Sandwadi turn at Kotropi in Padhar on Mandi-Pathankot National Highway. Suddenly a fire broke out in a moving car. The tourists traveling in the car had come from Jaipur in Rajasthan to visit Himachal Pradesh. Tourists from Rajasthan were going back towards Kullu-Manali from Dharamshala. Suddenly the car caught fire. Both the passengers in the car came out carefully. After this the car burnt to ashes within a few minutes.

As soon as the information was received, the fire department team also reached the spot but by then the car was completely burnt. The incident is said to have happened around 2.30 pm on Wednesday. Car riders Arun Chaudhary and Aman Yadav, residents of Jaipur, Rajasthan, told that they had come to visit Himachal Pradesh last Monday with their two other friends.

Car riders Arun Chaudhary and Aman Yadav, residents of Jaipur, Rajasthan, told that they were staying with their friend Pushkar Dhiman, resident of Dharamshala, on Tuesday via Chintpurni Jwalaji Kangra. Today there was a program of Kullu-Manali along with friend Pushkar Dhiman. Suddenly the braking of the car stopped near Sandwadi turn of Kotropi. As soon as the car was parked on the roadside with difficulty using the handbrake, sparks started rising from the bonnet. Both the friends promptly opened the window and came out. The vehicle was surrounded by flames from all sides and was reduced to ashes within 20 minutes.

During this time, long lines of vehicles formed on both ends of the road. Aman Yadav told that he had purchased the diesel version car of Nissan Motor in the year 2013 itself. Today, after taking night rest in Mandi, we had planned to go to Kullu, Manali and Rohtang on Thursday, which is now in vain.

DSP Padhar Dinesh Kumar said that information has been received about the car getting damaged due to sudden fire near Kotropi.
