Mandi, 04 July: In Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, a loss of 10 crore 81 lakhs has been recorded due to continuous torrential monsoon rains in the last two days, along with the painful death of a woman.

The Sundarnagar assembly constituency of Mandi district has recorded the highest rainfall of 100 mm in entire Himachal Pradesh.

Giving complete information, Additional District Commissioner, Mandi District Administration, Rohit Rathore has said that due to heavy rains, a total loss of 10 crore 81 lakhs has been recorded including government and non-government property in the entire Mandi district, along with the tragic death of 1 woman has also been recorded during heavy rains. The woman’s death has been recorded in Shala village under Gohar sub-division. The deceased woman has been identified as Vanki Devi wife of Poldu by the Gohar police station in-charge.

Due to heavy rains for two consecutive days, a total of 162 roads were blocked in the entire Mandi district. According to the report of the State Operation Center till 3 pm, 103 roads were restored for traffic by the PWD department, while the work of opening 59 roads is going on by the PWD department.

147 transformers of the electricity department were affected due to heavy rains in the entire Mandi district, out of which 143 transformers have been restored by the employees of the electricity department, while the work of restoring 4 transformers is going on by the employees of the electricity department.

Apart from this, a total loss of Rs 36 lakh has been recorded to the Jal Shakti Department and some drinking water schemes have also been affected.

Rohit Rathore said that the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway has been completely restored for traffic. Also, all the teams are working diligently to deal with heavy rains at every sub-division level.

Due to continuous rain for the last two days in Mandi district, Suketi Khad has also reached its peak.Due to sudden rise in the water level of Suketi Khad, the shuttering of the bridge under construction for the four lane near Chakkar also collapsed. Besides, a significant increase was also observed in the water level of the ravine flowing near Kataula, due to which damage was reported.
