Mandi, July 30: A person has been cheated of 27 lakhs through sextortion in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. An unknown woman befriended a person from Mandi district through a video call on WhatsApp and later slowly started making him feel intimate moments on the video call itself. The person also got deceived and kept doing whatever the woman made him do. Later it was found out that the cunning woman had made a video of the person by recording the screen and then started threatening him by sending the same video to the person.

This entire incident has happened with a person from Mandi district. The person has so far paid an amount of 27.14 lakhs to save his honour. Now, tired and exhausted, this person has approached the cyber crime police and appealed for justice.

Due to the video going viral, the cyber thugs also made a false story of suicide of the woman seen in the video with the complainant. While the fraudsters themselves started pressuring the complainant to pay money in the name of removing his name from the case by posing as police officers and CBI officers. In this way, the complainant has so far transferred a total of Rs 27,14,500 through various means in 91 transactions in the accounts provided by the fraudsters.

The complainant borrowed some money from his relatives to pay the amount of Rs 27.14 lakh, while he had to take a loan to pay some amount. On receiving the complaint, the cyber police station has started investigation by registering a case against the fraudsters under Section 318 (4) and 319 (2) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66 (D) of the IT Act. The cyber police has started investigating the transactions related to this case so that the fraudsters can be reached.

ASP Manmohan Singh of Cyber ​​Police Station Central Range has confirmed the registration of the case. He said that advisories are also being issued from time to time by the Cyber ​​Crime Police Station Mandi. The general public is requested not to accept video or WhatsApp calls from any unknown person.
