Pickup hit by landslide

Solan, July 29: News of an accident has been received near I Love Himachal Nature Park under Parwanoo Police Station on Kalka-Shimla Highway (NH-5) in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. On Monday morning around 2:30 am, stones fell from the hill on a Bolero camper (PB 08CP-9686) with Punjab number. The Bolero camper was going from Jalandhar to Shimla carrying newspapers. A total of 8 people were in the Bolero.

In the accident, 40-year-old Devraj, son of Deshraj, a resident of Phagwara, Punjab, died. Apart from this, three people including the driver have suffered minor injuries. The injured have been identified as 40-year-old Kuldeep Singh (driver), son of Harbhajan Singh, resident of Garhshankar, 23-year-old Bhavuk, son of Chaman Lal, resident of Mohalla Jalandhar City and 43-year-old Vandana Sondhi, wife of Chaman Lal, resident of Mohalla Jalandhar City.

The injured have been taken to ESI Hospital Parwanoo for treatment. The other people in the Bolero camper had left for their destination by buses etc. before the police reached the spot. Solan SP Gaurav Singh confirmed the case and said that further action is being taken.
