Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 20: Even before leaving for Lok Sabha election duty, 50,000 polling workers from Himachal Pradesh will cast their votes. The Election Commission has made a new arrangement for the first time. Till now, polling personnel were given ballot papers and used to cast their votes through postal ballot at the polling station. During the training before voting, the employees will vote after verifying the self-certified declaration form from a gazetted officer. Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg gave this information in a workshop organized for media personnel on Tuesday at the State Election Department office. The Election Commission has included media personnel among the essential services.

Media personnel will also be able to cast their vote before voting. Election Commission national level master trainer Munshi Sharma, through a presentation, gave information about state level certification committee, social media, fake news, paid news and facilities provided to journalists.

Votes can be cast for the elections till May 4. Even after this, if any eligible person applies to cast his vote, the application will be accepted. If any news is found to be paid, its cost will be added to the candidate’s expenses and the Press Council of India will be informed.

Advertisements running on social media will also have to be authenticated in advance. The Election Department will also keep an eye on paid news at its own level. Social media accounts of political parties and candidates will also be monitored. Candidates will have to provide their account information at the time of nomination.

Media passes will be issued for entry into polling stations and counting centres. Media centers will be established at the state and district level. National Media Awards will be given to journalists for making voters aware.

Complaints received on C-Vigil app resolved in 94 minutes –

Himachal Pradesh average time to resolve complaints through C-Vigil app, which was created to take action on complaints of violation of election code of conduct, has been 94 minutes. In the last assembly elections, the Election Department had received 1013 complaints through the C-Vigil app, which were resolved in an average of 94 minutes. There is a provision to resolve complaints received on C-Vigil app within 100 minutes.
