Malana village of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh has already made a mark on the international map for the stories of its ancient democracy and culture. But, amid heavy snowfall, Malana village is not in the news on social media for its historical god culture nor any amazing tourist activities but is making headlines for its major campaign, because Nirma, a small ASHA worker of Malana village. By covering a distance of 15 kilometers on foot in the snow storm, She has played an important role in the polio campaign of ‘Do Boond Zindagi’ reaching newborn babies and childrens.

Asha worker Nirma has transported the polio drops kit from Jari Community Health Center to Malana village in a very slippery journey in the snow.

The Chief Medical Officer said that there are 13 such polling booths in Kullu district, which come under snow bound area. Only Asha workers have succeeded in delivering polio drops kits to the snow bound centers of Kullu district by courageously traversing the slippery terrain amid heavy snowfall. The Chief Medical Officer said that amidst heavy snowfall in Malana and high valleys, our Asha workers have achieved success by delivering polio kits to children.

District Health Officer said that due to heavy snowfall, polio drops have not reached some snow bound centers even today. Efforts are going to be made by Asha workers to deliver polio drops to all the snow bound centers on Monday.

On the other hand, Asha Worker Sena of Palchan area of tourist city Manali has also encouraged everyone by covering the journey on foot through heavy snow and delivering polio drops to children’s homes. Under the National Polio Campaign, polio drops were delivered and administered in Kullu district on Sunday.

Due to heavy snowfall and rain for the last four consecutive days in the entire Himachal Pradesh, a lot of difficulties have to be faced in making the Pulse Polio campaign successful, but on one hand, risking their lives, Asha workers Nirma and Sena have done the same with their patience and courage. They both Made Us feel proud by delivering the polio kits to the children on foot in heavy snowfall.
