National Highway 5 Nigulsari remained completely blocked for traffic for the third consecutive day –
Due to long queues of heavy vehicles on both sides for the third day running at Nathpa Jhula near Nigulsari on National Highway 5 in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, the wheels of all vehicles have been stopped.
In view of the overall significance of the continuous landslides and falling of sharp rocks from the hill near Nathpa Jhula on National Highway 5 Nigulsari, National Highway 5 Nigulsari is closed for the movement of all heavy vehicles since Monday evening.
On the other hand, about two hundred meters of the road on National Highway 5 Nigulsari is completely buried under debris.
All the three important sections of Kinnaur district, including Kaza and Lahaul-Spiti, are facing continuous problems and hassles.
Due to blockage of National Highway 5 Nigulsari, long queues of heavy vehicles are forming on both the roads.
Due to the blockage of National Highway 5 Nigulsari, the movement of all small and big heavy vehicles has been completely stopped in the three sections of Kinnaur district namely Kalpa, Nichar and Pooh as well as Kaza and Lahaul-Spiti.
On the other hand, movement of small vehicles through all the alternative routes of Panvi-Plingi-Nichar is being done with great difficulty by the Kinnaur district administration.
On the other hand, due to the closure of National Highway 5 Nigulsari, thousands of people are using small vehicles to reach their destination covering an additional distance of about six and a half kilometers.
Movement of small vehicles on Panvi-Plingee-Nichar road which is in increasingly poor condition seems no less than a life-threatening journey.

Also, National Highway 5 Nigulsari Authority has deployed fifteen laborers along with three JCB machines on the spot as soon as the weather clears to block the blocked National Highway 5 Nigulsari.
Due to continuous heavy landslides from the hill near Nathpa Jhula, blocking National Highway 5 Nigulsari for heavy vehicles seems to be no less than a challenge for the entire Kinnaur district administration.
On the other hand, XEN KL Suman of National Highway 5 Nigulsari Authority, Rampur told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that at present the Kinnaur District Administration is working day and night on a war footing to restore the blocked National Highway 5 Nigulsari.
Due to repeated heavy landslides from the hill of Nathpa Jhula near National Highway 5 Nigulsari, the entire work of restoration of National Highway 5 Nigulsari is facing continuous problems. Kinnaur district administration is making complete preparations to restore National Highway 5 Nigulsari for all heavy vehicles soon.
