A houseboat capsized near Thuvalathiram beach in Tanur area of Malappuram district in Kerala on Sunday evening. The death toll in this accident has increased to 22. It is being told that there were 40 people in the boat. However, state Revenue Minister K.K. Rajan categorically denied having the exact figures of the passengers in the boat. He said that the Chief Minister will also reach the spot soon. Rescue operation is going on under the leadership of NDRF. Scuba diving team has also been called. Along with this, the Navy team and the Coast Guard team have also reached.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to rescue the people in the boat. Regional Fire Officer Shiju KK said that so far we have recovered 22 bodies. We do not know the exact number of people on board, so we are continuing to search to find out if there are more victims trapped in the mud.
