Born to retired teacher Prem Singh Pathania, Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania of the Indian Navy started his early education from Government Primary School, Shahpur.

Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania of the Indian Navy, who always topped in primary studies, was selected for Sainik School, Kapurthala and Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania of the Indian Navy had completed his studies till 12th in Sainik School, Kapurthala.

After completing his 12th standard education, Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania of the Indian Navy was selected in the Indian Navy.
