Isuzu D-Max Ambulance launched in India, conforming to AIS-125 specifications

Isuzu Motors India has launched the Isuzu D-Max Ambulance built as per the AIS-125 Type-C Ambulance specifications, at a price of ₹ 26 lakh, ex-showroom. The ambulance version of the proven D-Max has been designed keeping in mind the Indian healthcare conditions and service providers in the industry. It is equipped with 14 best-in-class features to truly bring some innovation to the ‘Basic Life Support Ambulance’ segment. Also, it is powered by one of the most trusted oil burners – the RZ4E 1.9L engine.

The diesel engine uses a variable-geometry turbo with an intercooler to deliver a maximum power output of 163 hp and a peak torque of 360 Nm. It is also equipped with features like traction control, stability control, hill descent control, emergency brake assist, ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, collapsible steering column and more.

The D-Max ambulance vehicle is built on the robust Isuzu iGRIP platform that runs on high-ride suspension with double wishbones at the front end. This is similar to the SUVs sold by the brand. Other features of the shorter wheel-base are better ground clearance and smaller turning circle radius which makes the Isuzu D-Max ambulance highly manoeuvrable in tight urban, semi-urban and rural areas for operational access.

The patient transport compartment has been given attention while designing it to comply with all AIS-125 Type C ambulance specifications. The vehicle is fully equipped with mandatory warning lights, flashers, sirens, side lights and PA system with high visibility stickers on the body. Care has been taken to make it durable and the interiors hygienic and rust-free with PUF-insulated GRP (glass reinforced plastic) body panels.

The rear body is spacious and has fixed glass windows on the doors and sliding windows on the sides. The wide rear doors can be fully opened for easy exit and entry for medical response team members via steps and to carry the stretcher-cum-trolley with a built-in ramp. The interior is finished in white and is well illuminated with properly placed ambient LED lights. The well-designed layout provides comfortable seating for medical response members and attendants. This allows emergency responders to provide medical care quickly and efficiently.

Thoughtfully placed storage units are placed within easy reach. It comes with a sliding window along with the driver cabin which has a black privacy curtain. The patient compartment has external storage provision for oxygen cylinders. As per AIS-125 specifications, delivery system with hoses, oxygen manifold source and oxygen humidifier etc. have been thoughtfully provided inside the patient compartment.
