Amavasya is expected to begin at 3:55 pm on October 31 and last till 6:15 pm on November 1.

Diwali Puja not only celebrates Lord Rama’s return from Lanka after defeating the demon king Ravana (according to Ramayana) but is also a way to pray for prosperity, good fortune and good health throughout the year. Diwali Puja begins with a thorough cleaning and decoration of the house.

During Diwali, the act of lighting diyas and candles represents the removal of darkness (ignorance, ego and negative thoughts) not only in our homes but also in our souls.
