International Mandi Shivratri Festival: Mahashivratri Jaleb Will be Held as Per the Tradition of Chhoti Kashi, Naga Sadhus will not be Included

Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Mandi, March 02: This time during the International Shivratri Festival in Chhoti Kashi Mandi, the administration has completely put an end to the speculations about the participation of Naga and Aghori Sadhus in Baba Bhootnath’s Jaleb i.e. Shobha Yatra. Citing the tradition and culture of Chhoti Kashi Mandi, the administration has completely banned Naga Sadhus from participating in Baba Bhootnath’s Jaleb this time.

The administration argued that Chhoti Kashi Mandi has its own culture and tradition. According to which Shivratri is being celebrated here for hundreds of years. It is alleged that last year, Mahant of Baba Bhootnath Math Temple lied and started a separate Jaleb i.e. Shobha Yatra of Baba Bhootnath here. After which Naga Sadhus were called in this procession, which is not the culture of Chhoti Kashi Mandi.

Since last year, this procession is being continuously opposed by the people of Mandi city and all the intellectual society. SDM Sadar said that every state of the country has its own culture and tradition, tampering with which is not appropriate.

SDM Sadar Omkant Thakur said that there cannot be pan-India equality on the basis of religious and cultural beliefs. Like Mysore Dussehra is different from Kullu Dussehra and Prayagraj Kumbh is different from Nashik. The cultural traditions and worship methods of Mahakal of Ujjain are different from those of Kashi Vishwanath.

He said that if even after the orders of the administration, the Mahant of Baba Bhootnath Math Temple calls the Naga Sadhus and takes out Jaleb, then the administration will be forced to take legal action. He has also appealed to the people of Mandi through the media to give their opinion about this Jaleb.
