Shimla, October 13: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the week-long International Kullu Dussehra at the Rath Maidan in Kullu on Sunday. The Governor also participated in the Rath Yatra of Lord Shri Raghunath ji. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on this occasion. The Governor, along with thousands of devotees, reached the main attraction of the festival and worshiped Lord Shri Raghunath ji. He wished the people of the state a Happy Dussehra. Supreme Court Judge Justice Sanjay Karol and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion, the Governor said that it is the good fortune of the people of the state that Lord Shri Raghunath ji resides in the holy land of Kullu and he has a deep connection with this place. He wished that the blessings of Lord Shri Raghunath Ji always remain on the people of the state so that we can continue to take our Dev culture forward in this way. He said that this festival is also important from the tourism point of view and during this time we should also make efforts to make people aware against drug addiction.

After this, the Governor inaugurated the exhibitions organized by various government departments, boards, corporations and other NGOs. He also visited the stalls set up on this occasion and appreciated the exhibitions. He said that it is a matter of happiness and pride that I got the opportunity to be present among all of you today on the grand occasion of International Dussehra Festival in the beautiful valley of Kullu. He said that this festival, famous for its rich cultural heritage and historical importance, is a symbol of victory of good over evil and Dharma over Adharma. This unique festival of Kullu, which has been an integral part of our cultural heritage for centuries, has not only preserved the traditions here, but has also created a special identity at the international level for its grandeur.

He said that while this holy festival connects us to our roots on one hand, it also reminds us of Lord Shri Ram’s victory over Ravana, the defeat of demons and the re-establishment of Dharma. He said that no matter how strong the evil is, in the end truth, justice and virtue win. The Governor said that while in other parts of India this festival is celebrated for only one day, in Kullu this festival is celebrated for a week and here one gets to see a great glimpse of the customs, art and community spirit of Devbhoomi.

The Shobha Yatra of deities, attractive fairs and participation of people from different areas during the festival reflect the deep connection of the people of Himachal Pradesh with the spiritual and cultural heritage. He said that Himachal is known for its natural beauty and it is the equal responsibility of all of us to keep the environment here clean and preserve the resources.

The Governor said that we are confident that this festival will strengthen social unity, bring prosperity to the state and inspire us to move towards a bright future. He said that there is no place for drug abuse in Devbhoomi and everyone should come together to root it out so that the environment of the state remains healthy. More than 300 deities from different areas of district Kullu are participating on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Bhuntar airport.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur, MLAs, Deputy Commissioner Torul S Ravish, Superintendent of Police Dr. Karthikeyan Gokulchandran and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
