Bhilava is a tree found from the outer Himalayan region of India to the Coromandel Coast. It is called Bibba in Marathi. It is closely related to cashew. It is mainly used to relieve pain in the muscles of the hands and feet. After heating its fruit, a needle is pricked in it, from which its oil comes out, which is applied with the same needle on the soles and heels of the hands or feet. It has to be used very carefully because if the oil gets on the body other than the soles, blisters may appear on the skin. Its oil is often applied between the nails. Its betel nut is fed to pregnant women. Its seeds are eaten like nuts. Their effect is hot. It is used when a Gond tribal woman has a child and is burnt around the woman so that the germs do not reach the woman.
In Maharashtra’s Washim district, the health of women is being affected due to the breaking of Bhilava.
