Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Chamba, March 06: After heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, the weather has completely opened up. Due to sunshine since morning, common people have got hope of getting relief from the biting cold. Today, it is sunny in other parts of the city including the capital Shimla. Due to sunshine, some increase in temperature has also been recorded in various areas of the state. On the other hand, after the weather has opened in the state, the work of restoring the roads has been started by the teams of BRO and NHAI. BRO teams have started snow removal work from Manali-Atal Tunnel, North Portal to Keylong, Keylong to Udaipur and Aut-Banjar-Sainj Highway 305. Common people are facing a lot of problems due to heavy snowfall. In view of the celebration of Shivratri, a large number of people from district headquarters Kullu, Banjar, Bhuntar and Manali are crossing Highway-305 passing through Jalodi Pass on foot. Although machinery has been deployed by NHAI to remove snow, it is taking time to remove snow due to heavy snowfall. NHAI Executive Engineer KL Suman said that snow removal work has been started.

Heavy landslide on Chamba-Tissa road, all the drivers had to spend the whole night in their vehicles –

On the other hand, the Chamba-Tissa main road has been closed for traffic since around 6 pm on Tuesday evening due to a large amount of debris coming from the hill near Jasaurgarh Miyandu drain. Due to closure of Chamba-Tisa main road, there are long queues of small and big vehicles coming and going towards Chamba and Tissa. Gram Panchayat of Tissa – Sanwal, Jhajjakothi, Dehgra, Shalelabari, Thaneikothi, Kuthed Badora, Hartwas, Seikothi, Mangli, Baudedi- Junas- Guila- Satyas, Shiri, Bairagarh, Ghulei, Tepa, Devikothi, Guwadi- Khushnagari, Padhar, Bhanjradu, Khajua, Jugra, Bihali, Teesa-1, Teesa-2 Nera, Lesui, Gandfari, Bharara, Tikrigarh- Dehrog, Chanju-Charada, Bageigarh, Dehra, Jasaurgarh- Dilola Dauri, Thalli (Chilli Shateva) contact with the district headquarters Chamba has been completely cut off. Public Works Department teams are busy in restoring the Chamba-Tissa main road as soon as possible. Due to the closure of the Chamba-Tissa main road, drivers heading towards Tissa and Chamba had to spend the whole night in their vehicles.

Executive Engineer of Public Works Department, Jogendra Sharma said that Chamba-Tissa main road has been closed due to huge amount of debris falling. Public Works Department teams are working hard to restore the Chamba-Tissa main road. Chamba-Tissa main road is going to be restored for all types of vehicles soon.

According to the forecast issued by Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Centre, there may be rain and snowfall at some high altitude places today. Even on March 7, the weather may remain bad at one or two places. The weather is expected to remain clear in entire Himachal Pradesh on March 8 and 9. Whereas from March 10 to 12, the weather may remain bad again at some places in the state.

Due to National Highway-5 Nigulsari road closure in Kinnaur district, injured person was airlifted by Air Force helicopter –

On Wednesday, on behalf of Kinnaur District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority Kinnaur, 44-year-old Uday Singh of Tangling village of Kalpa tehsil was airlifted with the help of Indian Air Force due to medical emergency. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma.

Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma said that due to some reason Uday Singh was injured and after first aid at Regional Hospital Reckong Peo, he was referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. He said that due to National Highway-5 being blocked near Nigulsari and in order to provide prompt treatment to the injured person, emergency treatment was given through Indian Air Force helicopter.
