MANDI – Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi celebrated its 12th convocation, in which degrees were conferred to a total of 636 graduates, marking a milestone in the journey of the institute. The graduating class comprised 297 undergraduate students, 284 postgraduate students and 55 PhD candidates. Notably, 16 medals were awarded to outstanding students for their academic achievements.

This year’s convocation witnessed an increase in the number of female graduates, with the ratio rising to 27.20% as compared to 23.36% in 2023, reflecting IIT Mandi’s commitment to gender diversity and inclusion.
Several students received prestigious awards during the ceremony. Shashwat Gupta, a B.Tech graduate in Mechanical Engineering, was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for achieving the highest CGPA among undergraduate students. Jain Hiya Sudhir, a B.Tech graduate in Bioengineering, received the Director’s Gold Medal for his outstanding all-round performance. Additionally, Devanshu Sajwan, a Chemistry graduate, was awarded the Institute’s Gold Medal for exceptional performance among postgraduate students.
Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the chief guest of the event, delivered the convocation address. Krishna Eka, CEO and Chairman, Brainwave Science, was also present on the occasion.
Prof. IIT Mandi Director. Behera while congratulating the graduates noted the establishment of new academic programmes and success of alumni. Emphasising on the goals of the newly inaugurated C3DAR, he said, “By leveraging advanced technologies such as remote sensing, AI and IoT, the centre aims to improve real-time monitoring and disaster resilience in the Himalayan region, which aligns with the priorities of the country.”
