Shah made the remarks at a press conference after the BCCI’s special general meeting in Ahmedabad, which will host the IPL final on Sunday. According to ESPN Cricinfo, the ten-team World Cup is scheduled to take place from October 5 to November 19, but the BCCI is yet to formalize the schedule, with almost four months left for the competition to begin.

Over the course of 46 days, 48 matches are to be played, including three knockout games. Apart from Ahmedabad, the original BCCI shortlist included Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Mumbai and Trivandrum. Nagpur and Pune are also understood to be under consideration. The league matches are likely to be held in 10 cities, with two more cities hosting warm-up games before the main event.

Shah, who is also the current chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, said that an impromptu ACC meeting will be held to determine whether the PCB’s hybrid format is feasible for the 2023 Asia Cup.
On Sunday, Shah will informally meet his counterparts from Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket Board and Afghanistan Cricket Board to discuss the Asia Cup.
