Hamirpur, September 09: A scooty rider died a painful death after being hit by an unknown vehicle outside the Nadaun telephone exchange on Sunday late night. The scene was so horrific that the head of the scooty rider was badly crushed. The driver fled from the spot after the accident. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar, a resident of Kopra Katoi village in the Jwalamukhi area, who was working as a conductor in HRTC.

According to the information, the conductor had gone from Nadaun to village Basaral with the bus. After parking the bus there, when he was going to his home on a scooty, an unknown vehicle hit him from behind near the telephone exchange in Nadaun city, due to which he fell on the road headlong. After the accident, the driver fled from the spot. After the accident, the local people informed the police about it.

As soon as the information of the accident was received, DSP Nitin Chauhan reached the spot with his team. Ashok Kumar’s family also reached the spot. Police station in-charge Baburam Sharma said that the police has taken the body into custody and sent it to the district hospital for postmortem. He said that the case has been registered and investigation has started. The police is scanning CCTV cameras to search for the unknown vehicle.
