HPU Shimla: Errors in UG Political Science paper, memorandum of 50 colleges to the controller of examinations
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, April 10: About 50 Teachers of political science of government colleges of Himachal Pradesh sent a memorandum to the Controller of Examinations of HPU on non-fulfillment of the criteria set in the question papers appearing in the annual examinations. Everyone has expressed concern over the irregularities in three consecutive question papers. Students across the state had also sent memorandums to the controller of examinations when 80 percent of question number 102 in the examination of Political Science subject held on April 2 was not as per the guidelines issued by the syllabus committee.

Apart from this, a complaint was also received in the question paper of Political Theory (Paper Code-101) on March 30 that the questions were asked in the colleges under Sardar Patel University, Mandi last year. This year the same was also asked of the students of colleges under HPU.
Apart from this, the guidelines issued by the universities have not been followed in other question papers also. Professors have strongly condemned such irresponsible attitude in the memorandum. It has been demanded from the university administration that an inquiry committee should be formed to resolve the problems faced in the said question papers. In which senior professors of colleges should also be invited.

Teachers say that bringing quality in higher education is a big challenge. Improving higher education today is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders, be it teachers, students or university administration.
Since this year the government wants to implement the National Education Policy in the state, for which the lack of desired infrastructure is a big question.
In the memorandum, Teachers have appealed that it is very important to first correct the flaws of the present system, only then we can prepare a better structure for the new policy.
In the memorandum, the teachers have called for reforms to improve the evaluation process and have requested the university administration to call a meeting in this regard as soon as possible.
