People who are unable to pay bills through Paytm have got relief. After the Reserve Bank has given permission to Paytm to extend its service till March 15, consumers in Himachal Pradesh can also pay electricity bills through other apps like Paytm, Mobi Quick, Phone Pay, Google Pay and Bhim App till February 29.

Necessary process has been started by Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board to replace Paytm with other service providers (government and non-government banks).

The process of Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board will be completed in 1 to 2 weeks so that consumers do not face any problem in future in paying electricity bills online.

After the ban imposed by the Reserve Bank of India on Paytm, Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board had stopped digital payment of electricity bills through Bharat Bill Payment System through UPI app from February 13.

Executive Engineer of Shimla unit of Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board, Tanuj Gupta told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that the Reserve Bank of India has now given permission to Paytm to extend service till March 15, 2024, after which the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board has given permission to Paytm on February 29 After which Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board has allowed payment of electricity bills through UPI app till 29th February.
