Shimla, September 10: Himcare Yojana issue echoed in the Question Hour today on the tenth day of the assembly session. During the session which started in the afternoon, the issue was raised by MLAs Sudhir Sharma, Rakesh Jamwal, Inder Singh Gandhi, Trilok Jamwal and Randhir Sharma. The MLAs sought information from the government through questions about how much payment was made under the Himcare scheme inside private hospitals and if irregularities have been found in private hospitals, what steps have the government taken against them. In response to this, the Chief Minister along with the Health Minister gave answers.
MLA Sudhir Sharma said that there is a contradiction in the answers of the Chief Minister and the Health Minister. Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma said that recently the government has stopped the Himcare scheme in private hospitals. This is a decision taken in haste. He said that the answer given by the Health Minister today is that there are no irregularities in this scheme. This scheme should be stopped because the treatment in our hospitals is better.
The same Chief Minister replied that there has been no improvement in health facilities yet. All the hospitals were referral hospitals, that is why it has been closed. The liabilities of these private hospitals were very high and big packages were made in the name of treatment. Irregularities were found in it. A sub-committee has been formed for this. Minister Sudhir Sharma said that if a sub-committee has been formed then the empanelment of these hospitals should be cancelled till the report comes. On one hand it is being said that the health facilities are good, on the other hand it is being said that the facilities are not good. There is a contradiction in both these answers.
Sudhir Sharma said that the facilities of government hospitals are not good, the public will have to bear the brunt of it. He said that the sub-committee that has been formed should cancel the empanelment of private hospitals till the committee gives a report on this. Suggestions should also be taken from the public on this issue as to what kind of facilities should be provided.
