The high mountain areas of Himachal Pradesh, Rohtang Pass as well as the highest peaks of Kullu district and Lahaul-Spiti district received heavy snowfall on Saturday. There is severe dense fog and mist in the plains of Himachal Pradesh also. In many districts of Himachal Pradesh, it is partly cloudy as well as sunny.
In many areas of Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, Bilaspur district, Hamirpur district, Kangra district, Solan district, Sirmaur and Mandi district, there was severe dense fog along with yellow alert by IMD Shimla on Sunday and Monday also.
IMD Shimla has predicted rain and snowfall in the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, as well as in many areas of the central hills and high hills on January 16 and January 17.
Due to change in the weather of Himachal Pradesh amid drought like conditions for the next three months, severe cold has increased in all the high altitude areas. On Saturday morning, along with Rohtang Pass, heavy snowfall was recorded by IMD Shimla on the hills of Kunjam Pass, Baralacha Pass, Shinkula Pass, Ghepan Peak, Chandrabhaga Range.

The minimum temperature in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala and Kufri was 9.2 degrees Celsius and the capital Shimla recorded 9.0 degrees Celsius by IMD Shimla. In all the three hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, Friday night was the hottest during this season.
During the month of January last year 2023 itself, the minimum temperature in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla had reached ten degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, partial improvement in the minimum temperature levels of all other high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh has also been recorded by IMD Shimla. Even on Friday night, the minimum temperature in any area of Himachal Pradesh was not recorded in minus degree Celsius. Due to severe dense fog and mist in all the plain districts of Himachal Pradesh, the weather is increasing cold in the morning and evening. In the plains of Himachal Pradesh, the sun has been shining brightly since 11 am. In the plains of Himachal Pradesh, severe dense fog and mist are again prevailing since 4 o’clock in the evening.
