Himachal Weather: Heavy Snowfall In Himachal, 241 Roads And 677 Power Transformers Stalled, Know The Situation In Pictures.
Heavy Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh Today: Heavy rain and snowfall continues for the third day amid Orange Alert in entire Himachal Pradesh. All the high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh are covered with snow. While heavy rains in other areas of Himachal Pradesh have been recorded by IMD Shimla. The first snowfall of this season and new year 2024 in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, has been recorded by IMD Shimla. Tourists from India and abroad present on the ridge and mall road of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, are thrilled to see the snowflakes falling. The first snowfall of the season has also been recorded by IMD Shimla in Khajjiar in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Heavy snowfall continues in Churah, Bharmour, Pangi, Dalhousie of Chamba district. Pangi, the tribal area of Himachal Pradesh, has been cut off from other parts. Electricity supply has completely stopped in most of the panchayats of Pangi tribal area.
Due to heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, six national highways and 241 roads were closed for traffic till 10:00 am on Thursday. 677 power transformers have also stopped in Himachal Pradesh. In Himachal Pradesh, maximum 139 roads have been completely closed in Lahaul-Spiti district. In Himachal Pradesh, 20 roads in Kinnaur district, 11 in Kullu district, 14 in Mandi district and 13 in Shimla district have been completely closed for traffic. Lahaul valley is also completely covered with snow. Heavy snowfall continues in Lahaul Valley for the third consecutive day. Due to heavy snowfall of more than two feet in the South Portal of Atal Tunnel Rohtang, Lahaul Valley has been completely cut off from the country and the world.
Due to heavy snowfall, movement of all types of vehicles on the roads beyond Dobhi, Katrai is completely closed –
Due to heavy snowfall, no vehicle is being allowed to move beyond Dobhi, Katrai towards the tourist city Manali. Kullu District Police is advising not to travel keeping the weather in mind.

On the other hand, due to heavy rains and snowfall, the faces of farmers and gardeners have completely blossomed. Along with the roads, electricity has also failed in many areas. Chamba-Tissa main road has been opened. Also, Chamba district’s Teesa-Bairagarh, Devikothi-Tepa, Tarela-Guila, Tarela-Junas, Tarela-Baudedi-Mangali, Nakrod-Bharada, Nakrod-Chanju, Teesa-Sanwas, Bhanjradu-Chanwas, Nakrod-Ail, Himgiri-Ail. -Jasaurgarh- Diola road has been completely closed for traffic.
One foot fresh snowfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla in village Kaiya of Khajua gram panchayat of Churah sub-division of Chamba district.
The highest altitude areas of Kinnaur district have also been covered with snow. Heavy snowfall in Raksham, Bhavaveli, Chitkul, Kalpa, Kunnaucharang, Nesang, Hango and Chuling in Kinnaur district has been recorded by IMD Shimla. Heavy rain in lower altitude parts of Kinnaur district has also been recorded by IMD Shimla. The entire Kinnaur district is in the grip of cold due to fresh snowfall and rain.
Baddi, Nalagarh area of Solan district is also receiving heavy rain since morning. While the cold has increased in the entire Solan district due to heavy rains, on the other hand the faces of farmers and gardeners have also blossomed with happiness.
More than a dozen HRTC and private buses are completely stuck in the snowy areas of Himachal Pradesh.
The entire life has been affected due to heavy snowfall and rain in Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh.
The upper areas of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh have also been covered with snow. Due to heavy snowfall, HRTC bus services going from Kullu district towards Manali have also been badly affected.
Kullu district administration has declared holiday in all government and private schools of Kullu district till 2nd February due to closure of roads and paths due to heavy snowfall and rain. Kullu District Administration has also issued a notification regarding holidays till 2nd February. Due to heavy snowfall, many roads including Manali-Keylong National Highway through Atal Tunnel Rohtang have been badly disrupted.
Lahaul has been completely cut off from Kullu district. Electricity has also been completely cut off in many villages of Kullu district.
Due to heavy snowfall, life in the entire Kullu district has been badly affected. On the other hand, due to heavy rains, HRTC bus services towards the tourist city Manali have also been completely affected.
HRTC buses going towards tourist city Manali are not being sent beyond Patlikuhal.
Along with this, problems of common people have increased due to stopping of wheels of HRTC buses in rural areas of Kullu district.
On the other hand, rain has started in the tourist city Manali early in the morning on Thursday. The roads of Kullu district have become filled with water due to heavy rains. Heavy rain in Kullu district has also been recorded by IMD Shimla.
Due to lack of proper drainage of drains in Kullu district, people are facing huge problems. Due to heavy rain and snowfall, Kullu district and Lahaul valley have also been hit by severe cold.
Meteorological Center Shimla has issued an orange alert of heavy snowfall in the central and high hill districts of entire Himachal Pradesh, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti as well as in the upper areas of Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra and Shimla districts on Thursday.
IMD Shimla has predicted bad weather only in high mountain areas on 2nd February.
IMD Shimla has predicted clear weather in all other areas of Himachal Pradesh on February 2.
Yellow alert of heavy rain and snowfall in entire Himachal Pradesh on 3rd February and 4th February has been issued by IMD Shimla.
IMD Shimla is predicting the western disturbance to weaken in Himachal Pradesh from 5th February.
Director of Meteorological Center, Shimla, Surendra Paul told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that due to the active western disturbance, heavy rains and snowfall are continuing in most areas of Himachal Pradesh. The period of heavy snowfall and rain is going to continue till 4th February.
IMD Shimla is predicting the possibility of fresh Western Disturbance becoming active in entire Himachal Pradesh from 3rd February.
A significant drop in the maximum temperature during the last 24 hours has also been recorded by IMD Shimla due to fresh rain and snowfall. Also, the average maximum temperature has also been recorded by IMD Shimla as below normal.

90 percent of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) routes to Upper Shimla have been completely closed. The operation of HRTC buses for Nerwa and Chaupal in Upper Shimla has been completely stopped from Wednesday.
Also, more than 50 HRTC buses are stuck at various places in Upper Shimla.
HRTC bus services have been badly affected in the entire Shimla district. The traffic system has been badly affected due to heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla.
90 percent routes of Taradevi HRTC bus depot have been closed.
Along with this, 50 buses of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation are still stuck due to heavy snowfall in Khadapathar.
After heavy snowfall, hotel bookings in Shimla city have started increasing. 40 percent of the rooms in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, have been booked in advance.
Due to heavy snowfall, the supply of milk, bread, vegetables and other essential commodities to Upper Shimla has completely stopped.

Heavy snowfall recorded in Kamrunag, Shikari Devi, Janjehli, Saroa and Pangana peaks completely covered with snow –
Due to the mercury falling below normal amid heavy snowfall in the religious places of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, heavy snowfall is continuing in all the low lying areas of Mandi district. The hills of Janjehali, Saroa, Sajihanni, Rohanda and Pangana of Mandi district are completely covered with snow. The problems of the people of Mandi district have increased due to heavy snowfall and rain. Heavy snowfall of four feet in Shikari Devi and two feet of snowfall in Kamrunag in Mandi district has been recorded by IMD Shimla.
In Siraj valley of Mandi district Chhatri Gada Gushaini, Gada Gushaini Tapanalighat, Janjehli Chhatri, Janjehli-Bakhrot-Raigad, Lambathach, Shilhibagi-Kalhani, Kot-Deol-Jainshala, Chhatri-Janjehli via Lassi, Thata-Sambalwas, Bagsyad-Thunag-Raingalu, Tikki-Shatadhar, Khaneti. – Khuhann, Bhaunchadi-Kanda, Thachi-Deeder, Bali-Thachi, Narengalu-Shaitadhar, Basan-Somgad, Thachi-Dabar, Thachi-Bijhar, Sanarli-Sankar-Dehra-Raigad and Boong-Ration roads are completely closed for traffic.
Kot Devi Dahar road of Public Works Department Division Gohar has also been completely closed for the movement of all types of vehicles. Also, 58 transformers of Jayadevi sub station of Nachan have completely stopped.

Important advisory issued by Himachal Pradesh government for the local people of all the districts and all the tourists from India and abroad –
1) Must follow all traffic advisories issued regarding the weather of Himachal Pradesh.
2) Must follow all the advisories and appropriate guidelines issued by the respective meteorological departments of Himachal Pradesh Government.
3) All tourists arriving in Himachal Pradesh from India and abroad must check the traffic arrangements on their tourist route before leaving for their respective destinations.
4) Due to heavy snowfall in the entire Himachal Pradesh, all the tourists coming to Himachal Pradesh from India and abroad should not approach sensitive areas in any way.
5) Due to low temperature, keep all the pet animals inside their homes and also make adequate arrangements to keep all the pet animals inside the house.
The hills of Dhauladhar in Kangra district have also been covered with white sheets of snow.
Heavy snowfall in McLeodganj of Dharamshala has been recorded by IMD Shimla. All the tourists from India and abroad have enjoyed the heavy snowfall in McLeodganj of Dharamshala.
During heavy snowfall in McLeodganj of Dharamshala, a car also got stuck in snow in McLeodganj.
On the other hand, heavy rains in the plains of Himachal Pradesh have started bringing relief from the long standing drought.
Heavy rains that have started in the entire Kangra district are proving to be a lifeline for all other crops including wheat in many areas.
Heavy rain has also started in Baddi, Nalagarh area of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh since morning.
