Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that there has been an increase of 15.70 percent in the production of trout fish in Himachal Pradesh compared to last year.

Shimla, 01 October: Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the production of trout fish in Himachal Pradesh has registered a growth of 15.70 percent compared to last year. Due to which the production of trout in the state is touching record levels as of today. According to the CM, the production of trout fish in the state was recorded at 1170.50 metric tonnes in the year 2022-23, while in the year 2023-24, the production of trout fish in the state has crossed the record 1388 metric tonnes. Let us tell you that in the year 2021-22, the production of trout fish in the state was recorded at only 913.50 metric tonnes.

The CM said that the present Congress government has made continuous efforts to bring the rural economy back on track, due to which people living in rural areas have started getting maximum benefits. According to the CM, more and more families in Himachal Pradesh are adopting the path of fish farming in today’s time.

The CM said that the present Congress government has started working on a new policy to promote the production of trout fish in the state, due to which the economic condition of the fishermen of the state will improve in the coming time.

CM gave full credit for the record increase in the production of 1388 metric tonnes of trout fish to the joint efforts of the advanced fishermen of the state and his government. Sukhu said that the record increase in the production of trout fish is a strong result of the hard work of the fishermen of the state and the meaningful policies of the Present government.

Sukhu said that nine trout fisheries (hatcheries) are working in the government sector and six trout fisheries in the private sector in the state, due to which the fishermen are getting seeds on time. Also, the CM informed that the Fisheries Department of the government is linking the fishermen with the training of the best modern fish farming techniques along with trout fish farming.

The CM said that for the first time in Dodra Kwar, a remote rural area of ​​the capital, people were linked to a special trout fish farming training camp. Along with this, such special trout fish farming training camps were also organized in Sirmaur, Shimla, Chamba, Kinnaur and Kullu districts.

The CM informed that trout fish farming in Kullu and Mandi districts has now reached a record commercial level. There is a huge demand for trout fish in five-star hotels in Chandigarh and Delhi. The tourism sector of the state is also getting new dimensions due to the increasing demand for trout fish farming. The CM said that by adopting advanced agricultural technology and with the increasing demand in the market, the possibility of further increase in trout fish production is being explored, which will benefit the farmers and the state in the coming times.

According to the CM, the cool and oxygenated water of Himachal Pradesh provides a suitable environment for trout fish farming. In the last few years, Himachal has emerged as a leading state in the field of trout farming and has now become the best state in the country. Trout farming has today become a suitable source of income for thousands of farmers of Himachal Pradesh and this is strengthening the rural economy of Himachal Pradesh.

The CM said that the Congress government is also considering setting up a trout brood bank in Patlikuhal of Kullu district to provide high quality trout brood stock and rainbow trout seeds to the fishermen of the state. This step will prove to be important in strengthening the economy of trout farmers besides increasing trout production in the state.
