Reported & Written By Neha Singh, Diary Times, Shimla, May 10: Today’s weather forecast promises a mixed bag of surprises across the state. From cloudy spells to scattered showers, prepare for a dynamic day ahead. Let’s unpack the estimates to help you navigate through the day with ease.

Today’s weather report from the Meteorological Centre in Shimla brings a mix of conditions. In the summer capital itself, Shimla, the sky is cloudy, which means sunlight is scattered, making it less intense. This also leads to reduced visibility and a bit of haziness. However, in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh, like Satluj, Beas, and Ranjit Nagar, nothing significant is happening weather-wise. There might be a chance of light rain in some places like Sirmaour, Solan, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, and Kangra, but overall, it’s a relatively calm day.

In the past 24 hours, Himachal Pradesh experienced light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and even hail in some areas. Lower hill regions like Kangra, Hamirpur, and Una saw rainfall, while parts of Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur in the middle hills also received showers. In the higher hills, including Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, as well as some areas of Chamba and Kullu, rain and snow occurred at isolated spots. Temperatures remained relatively stable, with Keylong recording the lowest at 5.4 degrees Celsius and Una the highest at 39.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department in Shimla has issued a weather warning for the next 5 days, with an orange alert for the next two days followed by a yellow alert for the subsequent 3 days. Additionally, isolated hailstorms were observed in Dharamsala and Jubbal.

According to the Ministry of Earth Science and the Meteorological Department of India, today saw no significant snowfall, but rainfall was observed at several places across the region. Bijahi recorded the highest rainfall of 45mm for the day, while Palampur, Sunjanpur Tira, Sundernagar, and Kufri received the lowest rainfall at just 1mm. Other areas also experienced rainfall, with Bijahi receiving 36mm, HMO Shillaro 9mm, Manali and Baijnath 5mm each, Kothi 4mm, and Jogindernagar 2mm.
