The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau can now investigate the Rs 2 crore scam in the Electricity Board. The Electricity Board has handed over the part of the investigation related to the connivance of the officials in this matter to the Vigilance and has asked the Vigilance to register an FIR in the matter. While the second case is going on in the High Court. In this, the board has filed a petition for two crore rupees. The High Court has to decide in this regard. But vigilance will reveal the role of officers and employees in the whole case and the allegations of money transactions that came to the fore at that time. The Electricity Board has sent this application for investigation to the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau in the month of March. This big file has been opened just before the reshuffle in the electricity board management. It is being told that the state government is preparing to confer an important position on the officer whose name is in this file. Significantly, the matter is related to the Parvati project in Kullu district. In the construction of Parvati Stage-II, M/s Valecha Engineer was given the responsibility of tunnel construction.

During tunnel construction, the company required 450 kW load. During this time, Valecha Engineer and another of his contractors together connected the HT line for the use of the project. Before connecting this line, it was necessary to take the approval of the Electricity Board, but its necessary formalities were not done at that time. Later, by the time the matter came to light, the board had already lost about two crore rupees. The board constituted two inquiry committees to get to the bottom of the matter. These inquiry committees submitted their reports to the high officials and in this report many officials were put under suspicion, but necessary action could not be taken against the officials at that time. Now the board has submitted the investigation report to Vigilance. If the case is reopened, then those officers who have been getting the benefit of promotion despite being suspicious may get trapped in it.

Case going on in High Court

Finance Director Gopal Chand said that the Electricity Board has suffered a loss of about two crores in this whole case and a petition has been filed in the High Court to compensate it. The electricity board’s fight is with the leading company, which had issued further tenders. The Board is awaiting the decision of the High Court. The flagship company has deposited Rs 2 crore in the High Court.

Report sent to Vigilance

The letter for Vigilance and Anti-Corruption investigation has been sent by the Vigilance and Investigation Branch of the Electricity Board. This letter was written on 17 March. In this matter, the Vigilance Department has been called upon to register a case. In the letter sent by the board, it has been said to benefit the Valecha engineer by illegally installing electricity meter. Electricity Board’s ED Manoj Kumar told that the investigation of the matter is still going on.
