Himachal Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment: Negative Marking Introduced, Physical Test Will Set Candidates Apart

In the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment, candidates will face strict evaluation criteria including negative marking in the written exam and rigorous physical tests. As per the new guidelines issued by the commission, 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in the written exam. Even if a question is left unanswered, it will be deducted. However, if none of the four given options seem correct, candidates will have to choose the fifth option, for which no marks will be deducted. The 90-mark written exam will last for two hours and only those who clear the physical test will be eligible to appear for it.

The recruitment process places a lot of emphasis on physical fitness, with candidates getting additional marks based on height. Men can get 1 to 6 marks based on their height, while women can also get up to 6 marks based on their height. Apart from this, candidates holding NCC certificates will get 4 additional marks, with 4 marks for C certificate, 2 marks for B and 1 mark for A.

The physical test will be conducted by the police department, while the written exam will be conducted by the Public Service Commission. The selected candidates will be given nine months of special commando training at PTC Deroh. Those who fail to complete the training will be disqualified from recruitment.

Physical Test Standards

Marks will be awarded based on physical height, with men getting 1 mark for 5 feet 7 inches and 6 marks for 6 feet or above. Women will get 1 mark for 5 feet 3 inches and 6 marks for 5 feet 8 inches or above.

Eligibility and Fee Structure
Only candidates who clear the physical test will be eligible to appear for the written exam. The recruitment is open to Himachali youths who have cleared Class 10 and 12. However, candidates from the disabled category are ineligible for the recruitment. Male candidates from the general category will have to pay a fee of ₹600, while those from reserved categories will have to pay ₹150.

This recruitment drive marks a significant shift towards ensuring the selection of only physically fit and well-groomed candidates for police constable posts, with a focus on both mental acuity and physical stamina.
