On Tuesday evening, when Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu himself gave a statement regarding his MLAs that his MLAs were being kidnapped, the politics of the hills heated up. He accused BJP of kidnapping. If we pay attention to the expressions of current Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur during the voting of Rajya Sabha elections, then Sukhu looked upset.
On the other hand, Jairam Thakur looked carefree. He even gave a statement that the Congress government of Himachal Pradesh is in minority. Congress MLAs are in touch with BJP.
On the other hand, BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections also said that if he wins, there will be a change in the government too. Mahajan was earlier in Congress only. Many MLAs are still in touch with him.
Congress feared that there might be some game in the Rajya Sabha elections, hence the party had asked the MLAs in the legislature party meeting a day before to vote on the party line. The Congress party, while issuing a whip, had told its MLAs that they will have to show the polling agent for whom they have voted. BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan had said, I have contacts with many MLAs. I have asked for votes from everyone.
Sources say that BJP may bring a no-confidence motion against the government. Congress has 40 MLAs in Himachal Pradesh.
