Himachal Pradesh government released an amount of 133.56 crores for skill development and unemployment allowance schemes

Kumud Sharma, Diary Times:Â The ruling Congress government of the state has released an amount of Rs 133.56 crores to give impetus to all the schemes of skill development and unemployment allowance, giving their rights to the unemployed youth and laborers. The ruling government is not only taking decisions in the interest of the unemployed of the state but is also proving to be helpful in getting the laborers their rights, in which the recent increase of Rs 500 in the honorarium of multi-task workers of the PWD department also shows the welfare of the workers.
Giving respect to the laborers of the state, the state government has increased the minimum wage by Rs 50 to Rs 400 per day, due to which today the unskilled laborers of the state are getting an income of 12000 per month. Along with this, financial assistance of Rs 89.02 crore to 75485 workers of the state through the Skill Development Allowance Scheme can also be called a meaningful decision.
Not only this, out of 23186 persons included in the state’s unemployment allowance scheme, an amount of Rs 44.54 crore has been released to the eligible applicants.
Under the Industrial Skill Development Allowance Scheme of the state, an amount of Rs 72 lakh has been released to 269 eligible applicants. The state government has given direct employment to 13,637 youth of the state in the private sector by conducting eight employment fairs and 771 campus interviews in the tenure of two years from January 2023. The employment office has also helped 1327 persons in getting government jobs.
With the aim of bringing transparency in the facility of services, the EEMIS portal has been launched by the state government on August 1, 2023. The EEMIS portal provides complete assistance to the youth looking for jobs and the job providing institutions in all facilities like registration and renewal through a single platform. So far, 662 job providing institutions have completed the registration process on the EEMIS portal of the state.
In the direction of labour welfare, the highest contribution has been made by the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, under which 10182 new workers have been added till August 2024 and an amount of Rs 40.56 crore has been spent on welfare schemes, in which figures of marriage, maternity, medical expenses, pension and education benefits have been released. Under the two years of the tenure of the state government, Rs 31.14 crore has been released to 9638 eligible applicants through various schemes.
The recently launched Chief Minister Widow, Destitute and Women Scheme has been started by the state government, through which a provision has been made to give an additional amount of Rs 1 lakh to the eligible women workers of the state for the construction of the house and Rs 3 lakh for the construction of essential facilities like kitchen and toilet.
