Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu inaugurates Sujanpur Holi festival in Hamirpur

The Chief Minister also performed puja at the ancient Radha Krishna temple and sought blessings for his family and the people of the state.

On Sunday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the national-level Holi festival, which will be held for four-day in Sujanpur Tira.

First of all, The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh performed puja at the ancient Radhe Krishna temple and sought blessings for his family as well as for his loved ones. He also opened an exhibition set up by various government and private entrepreneurs for the public who will come to see the festival. the officials said.

There will be cultural nights and urban pottery items, which are made by some Indian artists from the Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh. All this will be the highlight of this festival. People are showing keen interest in the exhibition. Sukhu urged entrepreneurs and artists to work with more zeal to create the best and most unique products and sell them in the exhibition.

This festival, thousands of men, women and children come from different parts of the three districts and took part in the celebrations of the festival. They enjoyed various delicious sweets, and foods and saw the exhibition. The Holi of Sujanpur Tira has been Celebrated from ancient times every year.

However, this event became famous when the  Katoch ruler of the Kangra hills made this town their sub- capital and Raja Sansar Chand took the reins of the Kingdom under him.

In the early days, Raja Sansar Chand used to play Holi with his countries and their families and used to invite all of them to his forts, where a small tank was constructed. From there onwards, this tradition was started and people came from different places to visit the event of Holi.

There is good security provided for people who came from other states to enjoy the Holi. There are shops for children and people who want to eat something and buy some products for themselves or their families.

The Honourable Chief Minister congratulated the people on the occasion of Holi and said that Holi is a festival of colours. Which symbolised mutual harmony and fraternity. He said that the Sujanpur Holi fair was a perfect example of the rich cultural heritage of the state.

Present on the occasion were local MLA Rajendra Rana, MLAs, Suresh Kumar, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Ashish Sharma, political advisor to Chief Minister Sunil Sharma, Congress leader Pushpinder Verma, former CPS Sohan Lal Thakur, Kangra Cooperative Bank Chairman Kuldeep Singh Pathania.
