Shimla – Now soon, along with the Guard of Honour to be organized in Himachal Pradesh, women buglers are also going to participate in all other state functions. For the first time in the entire history of Himachal Pradesh Police Force, the induction of women buglers has been announced. Along with this, at present three women constables Shivani, Shweta as well as Neeshu (5th IRBN Bassi) are successfully undergoing training in Basic Bugler Course at Himachal Pradesh Police Training College, Daroh. On the other hand, many other women junior constables are also showing their interest in the Basic Bugler course, due to which other junior women constables are also expected to join the Basic Bugler course. Director General of Himachal Pradesh Police, Dr. Sanjay Kundu said that the unprecedented achievement of inducting women buglers for the first time in Himachal Pradesh Police will prove to be an important milestone in the commitment of Himachal Pradesh Police Department towards gender equality as well as inclusivity. Also Dr. Sanjay Kundu said that till now a male dominated craft in the form of bugler used to participate in all the guard of honor and other state functions of Himachal Pradesh.

Playing the bugle requires a lot of lung power, deep breathing, and mental and physical control. The bugle is a very important military instrument, which is why the bugle call has been used to signal the daily routine of the camp. Historically, bugles have been used consistently in armies to broadcast instructions from officers to soldiers during war. The bugle’s most important use over the years has been to gather leaders and officers at one place as well as to issue marching orders in army camps.
Bugle players also play an important role in the police forces, as the sounding of the bugle of the police forces serves as an important signal during ceremonies, state parades as well as all other official functions. The melodious tunes of the women police forces have been instilling a sense of respect as well as tradition for years. Along with this, the bugle has become prominently associated with solemnity and grandeur in all important occasions. In India, whenever the national flag is hoisted at sunrise as well as when the national flag of India is lowered at sunset, blowing of bugle has been a mandatory part.
