Himachal: Numbers released to stop illegal liquor activities and sale of liquor at more than fixed profit rate of MSP.
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, May 10:While addressing the press conference in the capital Shimla, Commissioner of State Tax and Excise Department, Dr. Yunus said that During the Model Code of Conduct implemented for the Lok Sabha and by-elections in Himachal Pradesh, the State Tax and Excise Department is continuously taking important steps to arrest the illegal liquor mafias and to keep strict surveillance on the accused of this liquor business through CCTV and police team.
He said that strict orders have been issued to all the liquor traders of Himachal Pradesh that they should sell liquor only at a profit of 10 to 30 percent on the Minimum Selling Price (MSP), Otherwise strict action is certain to be taken.
He said that the licenses of liquor vendors of Himachal Pradesh who do not follow the rules will not only be canceled but will also be jailed.He told that if any liquor trader charges arbitrary rates for profit in excess of the fixed rates of profit, then action is going to be taken against that liquor trader under all the rules of Himachal Pradesh Excise Act 2011.

The Commissioner said that the State Tax and Excise Department is continuously receiving complaints about liquor traders selling liquor at higher profit rates than the fixed MSP, And the department’s teams are also raiding the contracts of those businessmen.He said that as part of the action, the department’s teams have already taken action against seventy liquor businessmen. Apart from this, instructions have also been issued by the department to put charts of correct rates of dividend after MSP as per the excise policy at all the liquor shops of the state.
Dr. Yunus told that according to Himachal Pradesh Excise Policy, ten percent profit rate on malt, whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, bio beer, bio wine, cider is applicable after MSP, And thirty percent profit rate is applicable on all beer brands being made in India after MSP, after that fifteen percent profit rate is applicable on low brand English liquor being made in India after MSP, And thirty percent profit rate on high brand liquor is applicable after MSP.
Dr. Yunus told that if liquor is sold anywhere at a higher rate than the MSP fixed by the State Tax and Excise Department, after making a profit of ten to thirty percent,So that complaint can be informed through telephone numbers.
